Chapter 2

When I came to, I was in a completely white world.

"Where is this…?"

Asking that to no one in particular, I looked around.

Although I said that, there was literally nothing.

It was just a pure white, inorganic world.

I thought of walking, and so, I moved my feet forward; however, as my body appeared to be floating, the feet I moved just flew through midair.

I was starting to feel helpless and lethargic when suddenly, particles of light gathered in front of me and started to take shape.

The next thing I knew, a beautiful girl with wings growing out of her back appeared in front of me.

"Good day, Andou Shougo-san. I am Amaterasu, the Goddess that has been tasked with looking after you. Please feel free to call me Ama-chan."

"H-huh…"

I can't keep up with all the sudden developments.

The beautiful girl who called herself Amaterasu cracked a smile as she looked at the bewildered me.

"I see that you are confused. Well then, let us get this situation sorted out. First of all, you're dead. Your head was destroyed by a meteorite. Do you know that?"

"M-meteorite…?"

Having heard that, I tried remembering what had happened thus far.

It was around evening, I think, and I had left the house for my usual late-night part-time job.

On the way there, I suddenly felt something had struck my head and collapsed.

And from then onwards, my consciousness was cut off.

I did, however, know that something had fallen, but that was a meteorite…?

What are the odds?

"Your head has been hit by a meteorite and you suffered a skull fracture. You were knocked unconscious and was then rushed to the hospital only to be pronounced dead. I offer my condolences to you."

"..."

"And currently, you're in the Celestial Sphere. You will be sent to an Isekai shortly after, and there, you will begin your second life."

"W-w-wait a minute! Isekai…!? Weren't we supposed to go to Heaven when we die...?"

I hurriedly called for a temporary halt as soon as I heard such an unfamiliar word.

Amaterasu-san then smiled and explained things to me.

"Of course, there's also that option… But, it's pretty boring in Heaven, you know? You died pretty young, as such, you still have the option to get reincarnated in an Isekai. Why not choose that and enjoy your second life with memories of your previous life intact?"

"Y-you mean I'd be resurrected…?"

"Indeed, not on Earth though."

"..."

I began to mull over things.

However, not because I was worried about myself going to another world.

But rather, I was worried about my little sister, Miku.

I broke my vow, died, and left her all alone.

Without me, what would happen to a hikikomori girl like her…? [TLN: Hikikomori - shut-in; a person who has withdrawn from society.]

"If it's about your sister, then there's no need to worry."

"...!"

As if Amaterasu-san could read my mind, she said as such.

"She's currently in police custody and will be soon taken to a welfare home. There will be no problems regarding food, clothing and shelter as she will be guaranteed with those."

"I-is that so…? I'm glad…"

Hearing that, I was relieved.

I was worried she might end up being rendered homeless and be out in the cold, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

"So, what would you like to do, Andou-san? Go straight to Heaven, or reincarnate?"

"U-uhm… I have one request."

"What is it?"

"I don't care whether I end up going to Heaven or get reincarnated in an Isekai. That's why… Can I ask you to make it so that my little sister can live a happy life?"

Even with guaranteed livelihood, I'm pretty sure that Miku is filled with grief for having lost me, her one and only family.

And now that she'd be living on her own, I'm worried about whether she could survive.

That's why can't you help her find a good partner and arrange it so that they would be happy?

Such being in front of me was capable of doing that.

That was the feeling I had.

"A wish, huh… Well, that certainly isn't impossible. I possess the power that can make your sister happy."

"...! Then…!"

"However, as a rule, Heavenly beings are forbidden from supporting certain individuals or groups. Therefore, for your wish to be granted, a condition must be presented in exchange."

"C-condition…?"

"Yes… And that is…"

Amaterasu-san then stated the condition in exchange for ensuring my little sister's happiness. And when I heard it, I was at a loss for words because of how difficult it was to achieve.
